world day against trafficking in person

Why is World Day against trafficking in person on July 30?

In 2013, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/68/192 designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons and declared. that such a day was necessary to "raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights."

WHAT IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING?

Cheating in a general way, behaving with individuals, and taking advantage of them for benefit. Individuals of all sexual orientations and ages can become victims of this terrible way of behavior, which happens in every area of the world. Sellers use brutality, devious work affiliations, and phony obligations of getting ready and open circumstances to hoodwink, urge and misdirect their misfortunes. The arranged affiliations or people behind this compensating awful conduct exploit individuals who are exposed, excited, or essentially looking for an unmatched life. Unlawful maltreatment is depicted in the UN Trafficking in Persons Protocol, which supplements the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, as "the selection, transport, move, grasping or receipt of an individual by such system as hazard or use of power or different sorts of strain, getting, contortion or shakiness with a definitive goal of cheating".

Each year United Nations has a different theme

In this year 2022, the theme is "Use and Abuse of Technology".

Technology is like a double-edged sharp knife, which is beneficial for both traffickers and victims.  Abuse of technology has intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily life activities have been shifted majority to online platforms.

Abuse of technology:

Online resources like the internet, digital platforms, educational portals, digital payments, and various social media sites.

Criminals are using it as a trap for exploitation, transport, accommodation, fake job offers, and more.
